Please ensure that your child always comes into school with a coat, especially when the weather gets colder.
Please provide your child with a water bottle every day. This is as well as a drink in their lunch box if they are having a packed lunch.
We have PE twice during the school week - on Monday and Tuesday. All children must have their PE kit in school every day to ensure that they can participate. We will continue to do PE outside as often as possible so please provide your child with appropriate clothing eg: tracksuit and trainers. Daps are not suitable footwear for the field and outside playground, especially in wet weather.
Children need to have earrings covered by micropore tape and hair tied back. You must provide tape for your child if they wear earrings in school.
Please also ensure that children have their name in each part of their kit! If your child is unable to take part in PE due to illness or injury, please notify me in writing including the reason for non-participation.
Please have your child's name in all of their clothes and belongings! Please make sure that your child comes to school in full uniform, unless you have been made aware of a theme day or event.
We want to be able to provide fantastic art experiences for your children and we want to be able to protect your child's school uniform as much as possible. Please can your child bring in an adult oversized t'shirt/ old shirt that they can wear over their uniform when doing messy activities.
Homework is set on Wednesday and due in on the following Monday. This is a piece of maths and English; however the English work may be linked to topic or other subjects.
Reading is also part of the children's homework. They are expected to read five times a week at home and this needs to be recorded in their reading record book. When a child has completed a book, this must be commented on in their record so we are able to change them. Every Monday we will record the number of reads achieved. Children who meet the target will be rewarded with 5 minutes extra playtime!
Spellings are also a part of the children's homework. The children will have 15 spellings from the spelling pattern given out plus the 5 high frequency words taken from the national curriculum year 3/4 list. Spellings are given out on Wednesday and tested on the following Tuesday. The new spellings will be stuck in the front of their yellow books and the children will be tested in the back of these books.
We are following a handwriting scheme that will build on various joins and support accurate letter formation. Below is an example of the cursive script we use in school, If you would like to practice at home please feel free. When your child complete homework activities, please encourage them to complete this in cursive handwriting following school systems. Thank you.
